The Sphinx's Riddle
I recently read the play Oedipus Rex for my introductory drama class, and I finally discovered the origin of that famous riddle, the riddle of the Sphinx:
What has four legs in the morning, two legs in the afternoon, and three legs in the evening?
If you think you know the answer, post it in a comment. I'll post the correct answer in a day or two. Maybe. :)
Well, here comes a more serious answer: We walk on all fours as a baby when we learn to crawl. On two legs when we learn to walk, and on three when we walk with a cane in our old age.
Me and my shadow? :P
