This entry was inspired by this topic on the Ubuntu forums, and I thought I could expand my thoughts a little bit on it. What is Linux made for, anyway? Linux is made for:
- Nerds/partial nerds.
- Customization of every feature of the operating system, no matter how insignificant.
- Those who like free and open source software.
- People wanting a good-quality alternative to Windows or MAC OS.
- Any type of computer project one can dream up.
- Anything that you want it to be.
- And most of all, Linux is made for freedom. Freedom to choose your OS, freedom to choose what features and programs you want. Essentially, freedom of choice.
Without Linus Torvalds and Linux, the computer world would be a much duller place.
