Well, my paradigm just got shifted today, and without a clutch.
My dad got laid off from his job.
Ok, not quite laid off. The city "eliminated his position." Same thing, though. As of April 6, he'll be without a job. This should be interesting.
However, he is taking a positive outlook on things. He's already submitted his resume to 2 or 3 other departments in the city that have job openings, so that will help. He has 23 years of experience working for the city, and he is a certified mechanical engineer, so it shouldn't be too hard for him to find another position, with the city or a private company.
So, we'll see what happens. The next couple months should be interesting. Mom keeps calling it a "grand adventure," which just sounds silly. I just call Dad's getting laid off what it is.
Life.
